Long products
Reinforcing bars, wire rod, beams, angles and channels are commonly grouped as long steel products. Their cross-sectional shape is often the first part of the specification, followed by grade, length and quantity.
Flat products
Plate, sheet and coil offer broad surfaces for fabrication and forming. Thickness, width, finish and mechanical properties are important selection criteria. Hot-rolled, cold-rolled and galvanized describe different processing or finishing routes.
Hollow sections and pipes
Hollow products include square, rectangular and circular profiles. Outside dimensions alone do not describe the product fully: wall thickness, manufacturing method and the applicable standard also matter.
Let the application lead
A familiar shape is not proof that a steel product is suitable for a job. Load requirements, environment, fabrication processes and specified standards should guide selection. Consult your project engineer for application-specific decisions.
